PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Thomas women's basketball (2-15) lost a North Atlantic Conference match up to University of Maine at Presque Isle 71-41.
The Owls came out of the gate hot, scoring a game-high 21 points in the first quarter. Alexis Ireland had eight points in the first ten minutes for UMPI. The Terriers played better defense in the second quarter holding the Owls to 11 points. Thomas went into the locker room at half time down by 32-19.
Thomas continued to fight but were unable to catch up to UMPI who outscored them 39-22 in the second half. Senior Captain
Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) scored seven out of Thomas' 11 points in the fourth quarter. UMPI had an impressive eight steals as a team in the final quarter.
Ravagli led the Terriers for the second straight day with 12 points.
Lindsay Given (Waterville, Maine) added nine while
Brianne Benecke (Oakland, Maine) contributed eight points and
Samantha Fortin (New Gloucester, Maine) had 11 rebounds. Emily Wheaton led the Owls with 15 points while Alexis Ireland recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Up next Thomas will host NVU-Lyndon on Tuesday at 6:30 in a make-up game from January. They will then finish their season by playing at Husson on Thursday and hosting UMaine Farmington on Saturday.
