Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Ravagli has career game as women's hoops loses tight NAC battle to UMPI

Presque Isle, Maine – Thomas women's basketball came up just short against conference foe, University of Maine at Presque Isle, losing 52-48.

It was a battle from the start, neither team was able to get more than a six-point lead in the contest. Thomas had a five-point lead after the first quarter but UMPI came back in the second quarter, taking a 30-28 at half time.

The second half mirrored the first half in a lot of ways. Neither team was able to pull away in the third quarter and after 30 minutes of play, the score was knotted at 40 apiece.

The Owls got up late in the fourth quarter but the Terriers kept fighting. They were able to pull within two late in the fourth quarter with Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) hitting a deep three but the Terriers were unable to tie the game up, falling just short.

Ravagli had a career best 28 points in the loss for the Terriers. She also had an impressive five steals on the night. Sophomores Brianne Benecke (Oakland, Maine) and Samantha Fortin (New Gloucester, Maine) had nine rebounds each.

Earlier this week the North Atlantic Conference announced that every basketball team will make the playoffs, with playoff contests starting Tuesday, February 15th. This change is for this season only.

The Terriers will look for their revenge tomorrow at 3  p.m against the Owls.
