WATERVILLE, MAINE – The Thomas College Men's Ice Hockey team (7-7-1) defeated crosstown rival Colby College in NECHA ice hockey action at the Harold Alfond Ice Arena on Thursday night, 3-2.
The Terriers jumped to an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals by
Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) and
Sean Coleman (Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland).
Zach Whitney (Chelsea, Maine) assisted on both goals in the first period. Thomas headed into the locker room at the conclusion of the first period with a 2-0 lead.
Colby had a strong second period, scoring a late goal to cut the Terrier's lead in half going in to the third period. The Terriers dominated the third period.
Ethan Scripture (Bangor, Maine) beat the Colby's goaltender and extended the Terrier's lead by two for the second time. Colby scored their second goal of the game with under a minute remaining in the period, but Thomas skated away with the win after three periods.
Miloslav Fuksa (Czech Republic) was credited with the win in goal.
The Terriers will compete in an NECHA Colonial Conference playoff game at the Conway Arena in Nashua, N.H. on Saturday, February 12 with faceoff scheduled for 11:10 a.m.
