WATERVILLE, Maine – Thomas women's basketball (2-13) fell in non-conference play to New England College (12-4) on Tuesday night by a score of 50-35.
This was the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Pilgrims won the two previous meetings as well, the first one at Bates and the second one in Henniker, N.H.
The first half was a low scoring affair as both teams settled into the game. Neither team was able to build up much of a lead in the opening two quarters and as the half ended New England College led the Terriers 17-15.
The Pilgrims came alive in the third quarter, scoring a game high of 20 points in the quarter and holding Thomas to 11 points. New England College really pressed Thomas on defense in the second half, creating more turnovers and opportunities on offense.
Senior Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) led the Terriers with 11 points in the loss while sophomore Samantha Fortin (New Gloucester, Maine) had eight points and eight rebounds. Asia Jones had a game of high 17 points in the win for the Pilgrims.
Up next the Terriers will travel to University of Maine at Presque Isle to play games on Saturday and Sunday with times still to be determined. The games were originally going to be on Friday and Saturday but were moved because of potential a potential winter storm.
