Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Thomas women's basketball tripped up by conference foe Husson

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas women's basketball (2-12) led by seniors Anna Piirainen (West Paris, Maine) and Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) fell in a North Atlantic Conference match-up to Husson University (9-4) on Friday night by a score of 57-43.

The Eagles and Terriers went back and forth in the early minutes of the game but Husson ended the first quarter on a 9-2 run, giving them an eight-point lead to end the quarter. Thomas re-focused in the second half, keeping the game close, and going into the locker room only down by eight.

Husson played their most dominating quarter in the third, playing great defense and increasing their lead to 18 points. Thomas played better in the fourth quarter but were unable to mount a big enough comeback against their conference foes.

Piirainen and Ravagli each had 12 points for the Terriers in the loss. Megan Peach had a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Eagles while Vanessa Duarte added 17 points and Makaelyn Porter tallied 12 points.

Husson dominated second point chances 13-2 while Thomas was able to be more successful scoring in the paint. Both teams did an excellent job of converting turnovers into points.

The Terriers will host New England College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The two teams have already met twice this season with the Pilgrims taking both meetings. Thomas community members are now able to attend games per the updated spectator policy and there will be a live stream and live stats for those who cannot attend in person.
