WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas men's basketball (4-9) fell to conference foe Husson University (8-7) 89-70 on Friday night inside the Larry Mahaney Gymnasium.
The Eagles rushed out to a 10-0 lead in the first half but the Terriers settled down and were able to find their rhythm on offense. Thomas was able to get within two points late in the first half but a three pointer by Justin Thompson with under a minute to play gave Husson a five point at the end of 20 minutes. The visitors shot an impressive 46 percent from beyond the arc in the first half, with the majority of the shots well contested.
Husson jumped out to a 16-point lead within the first five minutes of the second half and were able to control the game. They out-scored Thomas 46-32 in the second half and improved to 4-0 in divisional play while the home team fell to 1-5.
The Terriers were led by senior Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and sophomore Lokiron Anda (Portland, Maine) who both scored 14 points. The Eagles were led by DJ Bussey and Kendall Justice who had 22 points each.
Husson was able to convert more points on turnovers and dominated in second chance points. Thomas performed better on fast break points and points scored off the bench.
Next up the Terriers travel to Lewiston to take on Bates on Tuesday night in a non-conference game. There are no spectators allowed from outside the Bates community but there will be a live stream and live stats for fans.
