HALLOWELL, Maine – The Thomas College Men's Ice Hockey (2-7-1) defeated The University of New England Nor'esters 3-0 at the Camden National Bank Ice Vault on Sunday.
Thomas had a strong first period performance. Sean Coleman (Dundalk, Ireland) had an unassisted goal just after ten minutes of play. Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) found the goal again five minutes later, assisted by Cameron Tower (Orono, Maine), extending the Terriers lead extended their lead to 2-0. Thomas entered the locker room after the first intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Nor'esters came out firing in the second period, but goaltender Miloslav Fuksa (Karlovy, Czech Republic) made a series of brilliant saves. Thomas had a couple power play opportunities but failed to convert. The score remained 2-0 Thomas, after two periods of play.
The Terriers were able to control the third period and hold their lead to the end. Darren Cagnina (South Berwick, Maine) netted a late goal to close the period and seal another victory for Thomas. The final score was 3-0 Thomas.
