WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas men's basketball (4-6) got an important North Atlantic Conference win on Friday evening when they beat NVU-Lyndon (2-11) by a score of 90-69.
Both teams entered the contest 0-3 in conference play and were hungry for their first NAC win of the season. Thomas jumped out to a quick 16-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game and was able to stay in front for the rest of the game.
The Terriers shot close to 60% from the field in the first half and went 6-8 at the free throw line.They also held Lyndon to 30% shooting in the first twenty minutes and took an impressive 27 point lead at the end of the first half.
The Hornets would not go quietly into the night as they came out strong in the second half, starting with a 9-3 run to open things up. They were able to hold the Terriers to 45% shooting from the field and only allowing one three pointer in the half. Lyndon would outscore Thomas 44-38 in the second half but Thomas was able to hold on and get the important win.
Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and
Parker Desjardins (Jackman, Maine) both scored double digits for the Terriers while
Matthew Hadnot (Fredericksburg, Va.) and
Trevor Reed (Rockland, Maine) both added double digit rebounds in the win. Antonio Carlisle and Zach Falkenburg scored 16 points and 15 points respectively for the Hornets.
These two teams will face off again tomorrow at Thomas, with tip-off scheduled at 1 p.m.
