Three Thomas men's basketball players score double digits in loss to Maine Maritime

WATERVILLE, Maine - Three Thomas men's basketball (3-6) players scored double digits on Tuesday night against Maine Maritime Academy (3-11) but it was not enough as the Terriers fell to the Mariners by a score of 87-80.  

Maine Maritime got off to a quick start against Thomas scoring the first five points. The visiting Mariners got their lead up to as many as 15, half way through the first half but the Terriers were able to cut the deficit to only four points at the end of 20 minutes.  

Thomas started out strongly in the second half, even taking a four-point lead just five minutes into the half off a lay-up by first year Sawyer Deprey (Caribou, Maine) but the lead would not last. Maine Maritime regained control of the lead with 6:58 remaining in the game and was able to hold on for the important conference win.  

With the loss, the Terriers fall to 0-3 in North Atlantic Conference play while the Mariners improved to 2-4 in conference games. Both of Maine Maritime's conference wins have come at the expense of Thomas.  

Deprey led the Terriers with 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Junior Trevor Reed (Rockland, Maine) added 11 points and 10 assists and sophomore Lokiron Anda (Portland, Maine) added 10 points in the loss for Thomas. The Mariners were led by Markus Ramirez and Curt Heinz who had 21 points each.  

Up next the Terriers will host NVU-Lyndon in back-to-back games on Friday at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m. There will still be no spectators will be allowed but there will be a live stream and live stats for fans.
