WATERVILLE, Maine - Women's basketball (2-8) won an overtime thriller Friday night 57-54 against NVU-Johnson (4-9).
The first quarter was back and forth until the Badgers scored the last six points, giving them a 16-10 lead. Thomas, playing their first game since December 11th, shook off the rust in the second quarter out-scoring NVU-Johnson 16-12 and went into halftime down two points.
The third quarter saw great defense on both sides leading to the lowest scoring quarter in the game. The Terriers were able to regain a slim lead but the Badgers were not done fighting. The fourth quarter mirrored the first quarter with back-and-forth action. Cora Bourdeau scored the game tying basket for NVU-Johnson with only 30 seconds left in the game.
The Terriers looked gassed going into overtime but once senior
Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) hit a three pointer, they were able to find new life. After the three pointer, Thomas was able to maintain the lead for the entire overtime, scoring their second win of the season.
Sophomore
Samantha Fortin (New Gloucester, Maine) stepped up for Thomas, scoring a team high 18 points, adding six rebounds. Ravagli contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore
Brianne Benecke (Oakland, Maine) had a career best 18 rebounds including 13 defensive rebounds.
