Terriers Women's Field Hockey Fights Hard in Loss to Skidmore

Waterville, Maine- Thomas Women's Field Hockey (0-2) put up a valiant effort but came up on the short side of a 7-3 game against a very talented Skidmore (1-0) team.

Annabelle Oates opened up the scoring just two minutes into the contest for the Thoroughbreds. Morgan Sickles added a second goal at 10:37 to give Skidmore a 2-0 lead. Junior Dezarae Parkhurst put the Terriers on the board 2 minutes later cutting the Thoroughbreds lead in half.

Skidmore was able to pull away with three unanswered goals in the second and third quarter giving them a 5-1 lead but the Terriers did not go quietly with a pair of goals from their seniors. Christina Denis scored her second goal of the season at 49:13 and Lindsey Gregoire scored less than a minute later with an assist from Denis.

With just under 9 minutes though Thoroughbreds was able to seal their win with two goals right after Gregoire's goal giving them the 7-3 victory.

Thomas was out shot 22-8 in the game, with freshman Brennan Pinto and Elise Syphers coming up with some terrific saves in their first appearances for the Terriers.

Next up the Terriers take on St Joseph's at home on Wednesday night at 7 pm. Please remember that all spectators are being asked to wear masks at home games regardless of their vaccination status.
