Johnson, VT - The Thomas Women's Tennis (5-5) split their double header with NVU-Johnson (3-3) on Saturday. The Terriers lost the first match 1-8 but were able to rebound winning the second match 8-1.
They started by sweeping doubles 3-0 and then took five out six singles match.
Kiara Goggin (West Gardiner, Maine) and
Lauren Smith (Waterville, Maine) won at 8-6 at No. 1 double while
Cassidy Hamm (Pittsfield, Maine) and
Renée Rossi (Randolph, Maine) won by the same score at No. 3 doubles.
Riley Pierce (Watertown, New York) and
Magan Williams (Oakland, Maine) won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles Goggin won a close match at No. 1 singles 7-5,7-6 while Smith went 3 sets at No. 2 singles, turning her match around after losing the first set 6-3. Rossi also went three sets at No. 5 singles but was able to pull out the third in a ten point tiebreaker. Pierce and Hamm both won their matches in convincing style.
The Terriers close out their regular season tomorrow at NVU-Lyndon at 1 p.m.
