GORHAM, Maine - The Thomas College Men's Soccer (3-1) team suffered their first loss of the season to the University of Southern Maine (4-2-1) by a score of 2-1 in overtime.
The Huskies out shot the Terriers 2-1 in the first half. Southern Maine had a scoring opportunity late in the half, but goalkeeper
Jonathan LeClair (Belmont, N.H.) made an athletic trap inside the box to deny the Huskies' cross. Neither team allowed a goal and first half concluded, scoreless.
Thomas dominated the second half, out shooting Southern Maine 7-3.
Zenawi Bowen (St. George's, Bermuda) gave the Terriers the lead after redirecting a cross form
Eric LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine) just inside the seventieth minute. Southern Maine's Zekariya Shaib tied the game fifteen minutes later sending the game in to overtime.
The Terriers had plenty of scoring opportunities in overtime play, unfortunately, a foul resulted in a penalty kick and Southern Maine's Shaib found the goal for the second time, sealing the win for the Huskies.
