SOMERSET, Mass. - UMass Dartmouth overpowered Thomas' Women's Tennis team
on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Terriers 8-1 at Somerset Berkeley Regional High School.
The UMass Dartmouth Corsairs were able to sweep doubles play, giving them a 3-0 lead going into singles play. Freshman
Riley Pierce (Watertown, New York) and junior
Magan Williams (Oakland, Maine) battled hard for the Terriers at #2 doubles, eventually losing 9-8.
Lauren Smith (Waterville, Maine) and
Kiara Goggin (West Gardiner, Maine) lost at #1 doubles 8-2.
Taylor Davis (Lebanon, Maine) and Renee Rossi (Randolph, Maine) lost 8-3 at #3 doubles.
Pierce was able to score a point for Thomas after beating UMass Dartmouth's Ailey Riddick 6-4, 7-5. Pierce has had an exceptional season thus far going 4-2 in singles.
