Field Hockey Loses 3-2 to Evenly Matched Mount Holyoke

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas Women's Field Hockey (0-4) lost another close game on Saturday, this time to Mount Holyoke College (1-2) by a score of 3-2. 

The game started with three goals in the first quarter, the Lyons drew first blood at 8:26 when Margaret Robb found the back of the net with an unassisted goal. The Terriers would answer back just under 4 minutes later when sophmore Kayci Faulkingham (Belfast, Maine) found the back of the net with a great assist from senior Christina Denis (Waterville, Maine). 

Robb responded right back at 12:42 with her second goal of the first quarter giving Mount Holyoke College a 2-1 edge. Scoring cold off for both sides until the beginning of the third quarter when Thomas' Britney Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) scored her third goal of the season, tying the game up for a second time at 2-2.  Both teams had chances in the fourth quarter but it was the Lyons who struck last. With only four minutes left in the game Lyon' Kass Lawrence scored the game winner, giving them the 3-2 win and the first win of the season. 

The Terriers started the game with freshman i Elise Syphers (Auburn, Maine) in goal and then Coach Andrea Thebarge turned to freshman Brennan Pinto (Langhorne, PA) in the second half, both coming up with some terrific saves. So far this season Syphers has a goals allowed (GAA) of 4.00 while Pinto has a GAA of 4.67.

The Terriers take on Colby College at Thomas College on Tuesday at 7 pm.
