SB: Thomas Sweeps UMPI in Regular Season Finale

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – The Thomas College softball team concluded their regular season with a pair of North Atlantic Conference victories over UMaine-Presque Isle on Sunday afternoon.

GAME 1 – Thomas 13, UMPI 6
Thomas struck first with a pair of runs in the top of the first. Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) scored on a sacrifice fly, while Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.) hit a solo home run, her fourth of the season, to make it 2-0. The Owls got two back in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game 2-2. The Terriers got those two runs back in the third, with RBI singles by Madison Rock (Bridgton, Maine) and MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) making it a 4-2 game.

After and UMPI home run cut the lead to 4-3 in the bottom of the third, Thomas answered in the fourth when Rock hit a single to drive in a run, then scored on a groundout to make it 7-3. The Terriers put the game out of reach in the fifth, driving in four runs to go up 10-3. Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored the first run on a bases loaded walk, then Dunphy drove in another with an RBI singles. Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, Maine) scored on an error and Laticia Billings came in on a sacrifice fly to cap off the inning.

Migliaccio notched her first career home run in the sixth, while Champney added an RBI single in the seventh to round off the Thomas scoring and give the Terriers a 13-6 win.

Migliaccio earned the win, allowing five earned runs on 11 hits while striking out three in the complete game.

GAME 2 – Thomas 10, UMPI 1
The Terriers got off to a hot start, hitting three home runs in the first innings, Dunphy and Currier led things off with back-to-back solo shots before Champney hit her first of the year to drive in two more runs. Dunphy came back up later in the inning to drive in an RBI single to make it 5-0 after one. The Owls got one back in the first, but Thomas answered with an RBI single by Migliaccio in the second to make it 6-1.

Migliaccio had an RBI double in the fourth, and Currier drove in another in the fifth to make it 8-1. Thomas scored two more in the sixth, including an RBI single by Rock to make it a 10-1 final.

Currier took the win in the circle, allowing a run on six hits while striking out 8 in six innings.
