SB: Terriers Drop Doubleheader to Husson on Senior Day

WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College softball team fell to Husson in a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) games on Saturday afternoon.

GAME 1 – Husson 3, Thomas 1
Husson broke a scoreless tie in the third inning, scoring twice to go up 3-1. The Eagles added another in the fifth to push their lead to 3-0. Madison Rock (Bridgton, Maine) got Thomas on the board with an RBI single in the sixth, but the Terriers could not get any more across the plate and fell 3-1.

Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) took the loss in the circle, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out 10 in seven innings of work.

GAME 2 – Husson 6, Thomas 5
The Terriers struck first in inning number one, when Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) hit a leadoff double, stole third, then scored on a wild pitch to put Thomas ahead 1-0. Husson tied it in the third, then scored another in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.

Thomas took back the lead in the fifth, with Currier driving an RBI single to tie it 2-2, then Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.) hit a two-run home run, her second of the season, to put Thomas ahead 4-2. Julia Nadeau (Randolph, Maine) scored on an error later in the inning to make it 5-2. Husson stole the win with four runs in the top of the seventh to take the 6-5 victory.

Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took the loss for Thomas, allowing five runs, two earned, on eight hits and 6+ innings.

SENIOR CELEBRATION
Prior to the game, Dunphy, Nadeau and MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) were recognized for senior day.

NEXT UP
The Terriers and Eagles will meet again in another NAC doubleheader on Tuesday, April 27 at 3:00 PM at Thomas.
