WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College softball team earned a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) victories on Tuesday over NVU-Lyndon.
GAME 1 – Thomas 14, NVU-Lyndon 0 (5 Innings)
Thomas shot out to a big lead early, scoring nine runs in the first inning.
Madison Rock (Bridgton, Maine) had an RBI single early in the inning than and RBI double to cap the inning off.
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) had a two-run single, while
Julia Nadeau (Randolph, Maine) also added an RBI single.
The Terriers added four more in the second, with a
Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, Maine) RBI single followed by a Lyndon error that allowed three runs to score.
Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added an RBI double in the fourth to make it a 14-0 final.
Currier allowed just one hit, pitching two innings in the start for Thomas. Migliaccio earned the win in the circle, allowing no runs and no hits in three innings of relief.
GAME 2 – Thomas 9, NVU-Lyndon 1 (6 Innings)
After two scoreless innings, Thomas took the lead in the third, with
Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) scoring on a passed ball and an RBI single my
MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) giving Thomas the 2-0 lead. The Hornets answered in the next inning with a run to make it 2-1.
The Terriers broke the game open in the fifth, starting with a three-run home run by
Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.), the first of her career. A Nadeau RBI single and two-run double by Ouellette made it 8-1. Thomas walked off with the eight-rule win in the sixth on an RBI Double by Rock.
Ouellette took the win, allowing a run on four hits while striking out seven.
Jordan Devine (Belgrade, Maine) pitched an inning of relief, giving up a hit.
