Johnson, Vt. – The Thomas College softball team earned two dominant wins over NVU-Johnson in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contests on Sunday.
GAME 1 – Thomas 23, Johnson 0
The Terriers scored twice in the first and added one in both the second and third to go up 4-0. Thomas went off for 14 runs in the fourth inning to break the game wide open and added five more in the fifth to run a way with the 23-0 win.
Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Terriers, going 3-5 with a double and triple, notching four RBI and three runs scored.
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine),
Madison Rock (Bridgton, Maine),
Kasey Champney (Holland, Vt.) and
Audra Bean (Milton Township, Maine) all drove in three runs, with Currier scoring four of her own.
Jordan Devine (Belgrade, Maine) earned her first career win in the circle for Thomas, allowing just five hits and no runs. Â
GAME 2 – Thomas 13, Johnson 0
Thomas got out to an early lead again, with Rock and
MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) driving in runs on doubles in the first to put Thomas up 2-0. The Terriers scored six runs in the second, capped by a two-run triple by
Kaylee Fonseca (Seekonk, Mass.) to go up 8-0. Rock and Bean each had two-run doubles in the third and fourth, respectively, then Rock scored on an error in the fifth to make it a 13-0 final.
Migliaccio pitched a gem for Thomas, allowing no runs on just two hits while striking out four.
