WBB: Terriers Drop Season Opener to Husson

BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College women's basketball team opened their season on Friday evening, dropping a 77-41 decision at Husson University.

The Eagles stormed out of the gates in the first, outscoring Thomas 19-2 through the first 6:27 and closing the quarter with a 21-6 advantage. Husson built on their lead through the second frame, taking a 39-13 lead into halftime.

The Thomas offence got going in the third quarter, led by Alydia Brillant's (Winterport, Maine) 5 points in the quarter. Brillant stayed hot in the fourth, adding six more points, while Jordan Devine (Belgrade, Maine) notched five points in the final quarter. The Eagles held on to their lead, however, and took the 77-41 victory.

Brillant led the way for Thomas, recording 15 points and three rebounds in her collegiate debut. Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) tallied eight points, two assists and two steals, while freshman Brianne Benecke (Oakland, Maine) dished out four assists for the Terriers.

Thomas will look to bounce back tomorrow, Saturday, February 27, when they host the Eagles at 2:00 PM in Larry Mahaney Gym.
