CASTINE, Maine - Women's Basketball lost at Maine Maritime Academy in their North Atlantic Conference opener, 74-48
Thomas played a strong first quarter on both sides of the ball. Anna Piirainen (West Paris, Maine), Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, Maine), and Samantha Fortin (New Gloucester, Maine) each had four points in the first ten minutes. The Terriers ended the first quarter up 14-13.
The Mariners wasted no time in the second quarter, outscoring Thomas 24-7, and taking a commanding 37-21 at half time. The Terriers played better in the third and fourth quarter but were unable to close the gap.
Ouellette and Piirainen led the Terriers with 11 points each. Piirainen also added ten rebounds in the contest. Lauren Cook, Maria Barela, and Lauren Plissey all had 15 points in the win for the Mariners.
The Terriers will play the University of Maine at Augusta at the Augusta Civic Center next on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
