WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas Men's Basketball (1-0) stormed back from a 15 point deficit at halftime to beat University of Southern Maine (0-1) 82-80 in a thrilling season opener.
The Huskies came out of the gate hot, getting out to a quick lead and holding it for the entire first half. They shot almost 77% from the field and made 4-7 three pointers in the first half.
The Terriers didn't give up, coming out in the second half looking determined. They scored 53 points in the second half including shooting 10-17 from the three point line and played some stout defense.
Sophomore Lokiron Anda (Portland, Maine) led Thomas with 20 points while first year Sawyer Deprey (Caribou, Maine) added 14 points, four rebounds and added two assists.
The win was the Terriers first in program history against the Huskies. They had lost seven times to the Huskies dating back to 1998. Their last loss was 81-67 on December 12th, 2019.
Thomas will travel to Bowdoin next on November 13th, with tip off scheduled for 3 p.m.
