BRUNSWICK, Maine - Thomas Men's Basketball (1-1) lost on the road to Bowdoin College (1-0) on Saturday afternoon, by a score of 89-68.
The Polar Bears got the first six points of the game and never looked back. They led for all 40 minutes, building their lead as high as 32 points. Thomas kept it close for the first ten minutes of the game before Bowdoin started to pull away.
In the final eight minutes of the first half the Polar Bears scored 21 points while holding the Terriers to just 8 points, going into halftime with a 46-28 lead. Bowdoin continued to control both ends of the floor in the second half.
The Polar Bears were led by James McGowan, who had 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists. They also had four other players who contributed double digits in their first home game in two years due to the pandemic.
Senior
Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led the Terriers in scoring with 25 points including three, three pointers.
Sawyer Deprey (Caribou, Maine) and
Parker Desjardins (Jackman, Maine) both added ten points while
Trevor Reed had 8 rebounds.
The Terriers are in action again Tuesday night at home against the Colby College Mules, with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m. Please remember all spectators are required to wear masks, regardless of their vaccination status.
