AMHERST, Mass. - Thomas College Men's Basketball (2-3) fought valiantly but ultimately lost to undefeated Amherst College (6-0) by a score of 79-54. The Mammoth are currently ranked No. 21 in the nation.
Amherst controlled the game from the start, never trailing in the contest. The Terriers were able to go on a 13-6 run late in the first half to keep within shouting distance but were never able to close the gap.
Thomas came out strong on defense in the second half and was able to get the lead down to 12 points early in the half. Unfortunately Amherst was able to find another gear, pulling away and winning by their largest margin of the game. It was the first game this season that they won by less than 30 points.
First Year Parker Desjardins (Jackman, Maine) led the Terriers with 13 points while first year Isaiah Williams (Valley Springs, Calif.) added 10 points and senior Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) added nine points. The Mammoth had four players that scored double digits in the victory.
Thomas has two more games in 2021, both on the road. First they will play at Maine Maritime on Saturday December 4th at 1 p.m followed by playing University of Maine at Augusta at the Augusta Civic Center on December 8th.
