LEWISTON, Maine - The Thomas Women's Basketball (0-4) team came up just short against New England College, losing by a score of 50-45 at Bates. The game was a part of the Bobcat Classic Tip-Off, hosted by Bates.
The first quarter was back and forth from the start however the Terriers couldn't quite find the lead. Chantel Oulette and
Kaylee Ravagli scored 8 of the Terriers first 12 points in the game.
Thomas came out strong defensively in the second quarter holding NEC to just seven points. The Terriers took a slim 22-21 lead into the locker rooms for half time.
It was all Pilgrims in the third quarter, scoring 17 points. Kayla Goldring had an impressive six points, three assist, and three rebounds in the quarter.
The Terriers fought hard in the final quarter, playing better defense but were unable to catch up to New England College.
Sophomore
Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, Maine) had her best game of the season, scoring a season high 16 points, four rebounds and four assists. Senior
Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) added 10 points, six rebounds, and two assists.
This was the second time this season, the Terriers and Pilgrims have played each other and will not be the last. Just a few weeks ago NEC beat Thomas 52-38 in Castleton, Vt. With the Terriers improving every game, it will be interesting to see what happens when they meet again at the end of the season.
Thomas will play their first home game of the season on Tuesday against the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm and all spectators are asked to wear a mask.
