Thomas Women's Basketball falls just short against Castleton University

CASTLETON, Vt. - Thomas Women's Basketball (0-2) came up just short in a hard fought 51-42 loss to Castleton University (2-2) on Sunday afternoon. 
 
Senior Kaylee Ravagli (Lowell, Mass.) opened up scoring in the game with a three pointer which was answered a moments later by the Spartans' Kelly Vuz. The game would continue to go back and forth with no team able to build a large lead. 
 
Both teams played strong defense in the first three quarters with neither team scoring more than 12 points in a single quarter. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that Castleton started to pull away including a 9-4 run to end the game. 
 
Vuz led her team with 16 points, she also had six rebounds, a steal and an assist in 28 minutes of play. Ryleigh Coloutti contributed 12 points and an impressive 10 rebounds including nine defensive rebounds in 31 minutes for the Spartans. 
 
Ravagli led the Terriers in points for the second day in a row. She had a game high 18 points as well as three assists in 27 minutes. Sophomore Chantel Ouellette (Auburn, Maine) added 14 points and six rebounds in 31 minutes. First year Lindsay Given (Waterville, Maine) played a pivotal role in the paint picking up ten rebounds. 
 
The Terriers will travel to Lewiston next to play Bates on Friday at 6 p.m.  Thomas will then play New England College on Saturday at 4 pm. The Pilgrims just beat the Terriers this past weekend in Castleton.
