BIDDEFORD, MAINE – The Thomas College Men's Ice Hockey team tied The University of New England 1-1 on Sunday afternoon at Harold Alfond Forum.
The Terriers played fast and physical but were unable to light the lamp after the first period of play and the score was tied at 0-0 at the first intermission.
The Nor'esters started the second period strong, but goaltender
Miloslav Fuksa (Karlovy, Czech Republic) made a series of brilliant saves. The score remained tied 0-0 at the second intermission.
Early in the third period, Luke Staples (Middleton, R.I.) received beautiful pass from
Sean Coleman (Dundalk, Ireland) to put the Terriers on the scoreboard first, 1-0. The Nor'easters replied shortly after with a goal and tied the game at 1-1. The score remained tied at 1-1 after the end of regulation time.
Both teams had several chances to score in overtime play, but neither team was able to find the back of the net and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Terriers will play next at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. on Friday, October 22.
