CASTLETON, VT – The Thomas College men's soccer team shutout Castleton University, 2-0, in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) contest on Sunday afternoon.

In the victory, the Terriers remain unbeaten in NAC competition and move to 8-3-1 (6-0 NAC) while the Spartans drop to 4-6-2 (4-2 NAC).  Sophomore Adam LaBrie (Yarmouth, Maine / Yarmouth) tallied both goals for the Terriers to bring his 2016 total to ten, placing him second in the conference.

The Terriers got on the board in the 10th minute as a crossing pass into the box from DJ Nicholas (Portland, Maine / North Yarmouth Academy) found a wide open LaBrie.  LaBrie one-timed the pass into the Spartan goal for a 1-0 lead.

A majority of the game held back-and-forth play with both teams creating opportunities.  The Terriers put the game away in the final two minutes of play as LaBrie notched his second of the game on a ball from Willie Clemons (Paget, Bermuda / Warwick Academy), finishing the scoring at 2-0.

Junior Drew Martin (Berwick, Maine / SMCC) held Castleton scoreless with four saves in the victory while Dan Palker turned aside four shots for the Spartans.  Thomas outshot Castleton 20-9 throughout the contest and held an 8-4 advantage in corners.

The Terriers will return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 12, as they host Bates in a 7:30 p.m. non-conference matchup at Smith Field.
