Thomas Taken Down By New England College

HENNIKER, N.H. - The Thomas men's lacrosse team was defeated 16-1 by the New England College Pilgrims this afternoon in their North Atlantic Conference opener.

New England College (1-4, 1-0 NAC) scored the games first four goals, three of them coming in the first quarter to build an early lead over the Terriers. Skylar Saunders put home two of the four goals for the Pilgrims.

Thomas (0-4, 0-1 NAC) would get on the board with 9:02 in the second quarter when Colby Blondin buried home is fourth goal of the season unassisted to close the gap to 4-1. Blondin has now scored in three of the first four games.

New England College would tack on three goals to end the second quarter and take a 7-1 lead going in halftime.

The second half was all Pilgrims as they blanked the Terriers 9-0 on their way to victory.

The Pilgrims controlled play as they outshot the Terriers 55-6 and picked up 40 of 53 available ground balls. Thomas hurt themselves committing 33 turnovers on the afternoon.

Connor Lamberton and Liam Salus split time in net for the Terriers, with Lamberton recording 13 saves and Salus five.

Matt Richard led the way for New England College with four goals and four assists, while Saunders finished with three goals and five assists. Chris Galluzzo got the win in goal for the Pilgrims and registered two saves.

The Terriers will return to action on Wednesday, March 25 when they travel to take on NAC opponent Maine Maritime Academy at 7:00 PM.
