Terriers Fall 13-5 to Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Thomas College fell to Johnson & Wales 13-5 in a non-conference matchup at the Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex on Saturday afternoon. Caleb Runci led the way for the Terriers, scoring two goals and notching an assist in the losing effort.
 
Johnson & Wales sophomore Chris Macchi led the way with four goals and an assist while junior Damian Bandereck also had a hat-trick in the win for the Wildcats.
 
Thomas freshman Caleb Runci scored two goals and added an assist while freshman Derek Driscoll had a goal and an assist in the setback for the Terriers.
 
Johnson & Wales had the 2-1 lead after the first period after Macchi scored less than three minutes into the game and sophomore Tyler Thompson closed out the period with a goal with just :01 on the clock.  The two teams traded goals in the second period with JWU taking the 3-2 lead into halftime after a goal by freshman TJ Consiglio with five seconds remaining in the half.
 
The Wildcats exploded offensively to start the third period and used six straight goals, including two from Macchi to take the commanding 9-2 lead.  Bandereck's goal at the 12:39 mark of the period would later prove to be the game-winner as the Wildcats cruised to the 13-5 victory.
 
Junior Jack Pettine made 14 saves in the victory for JWU while freshman Carlos Cardona had 11 stops in the loss for Thomas.
 
The Terriers will be back in action on Tuesday, March 11, as they travel to Boston to take on the University of Massachusetts-Boston in a non-confernce matchup.
