BOSTON, MA – Thomas men's lacrosse was unable secure a come from behind victory despite scoring six goals in the final quarter, falling to Emerson 15-12 in their season opener. Freshman Derek Driscoll and Caleb Runci each recorded a hat-trick in their college debuts for the Terriers.

In the first quarter, Emerson started off hot with back-to-back goals to open the game with Eric Colleran finding Benjamin Byrd in the second minute in before rookie Calvin Bussiere set up Nicholas Kitsos for goal number two. Thomas fired back with two goals of their own but the Lions cranked out two additional to take the 4-2 lead after one.

The second quarter is what would prove to be the difference though as Emerson cranked out 12 shots to Thomas' eight, 13 ground balls to seven and Zoe Fisk's six saves holding the line. The Emerson offense produced seven goals in the period, two each from Colleran and Byrd to roll into the half up 11-4.

The third quarter was a bit more even-keeled with both teams putting up two goals each, with Thomas outshooting the Lions 7-to-5. The Terriers put up two quick goals on EC before Colleran and Kitsos answered back to keep the lead safe at 13-6 after three complete.

Thomas wasn't about to go quietly as they went full throttle at the Lions in the last quarter. The Lions opened the fourth with a man-up goal by Eric Colleran before the Terriers tore off five straight goals with two from Driscoll. Greg Auerbach answered again with another goal as Zoe Fisk put in work to close out the game with seven saves to take the 15-12 final.
