WATERVILLE, ME – Castleton (11-3-2, 6-1-1 NAC) nipped Thomas (8-7-1, 5-3 NAC), 1-0, with a goal near the end of the first overtime period in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men's soccer contest on Saturday afternoon at Smith Field.

Castleton's Bryce Kaler broke a scoreless match with a strike from the just outside the box, firing it past Thomas netminder Mikkail Crockwell on the far post to seal the victory.

At the 96:44 Kaler received a pass from teammate Jake Tietgens that he dribbled by a Thomas defender and getting an open shot from the left side of the pitch for the overtime goal.

Both teams shared time of possession the majority of game, with neither team getting quality looks at net. In a rather low shooting game, Thomas held an 11-9 advantage in total shots, with Crockwell registering a game-high three saves. His counterpart Nate Koenemann made two in the victory.

In a physical game between the two conference opponents, a total of 29 fouls were issued out. The Terriers held a dramatic 14-3 advantage in corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize on any opportunities from the free kicks.

Thomas will host Green Mountain tomorrow at 3:30pm in their final regular season tilt of the season for Senior Day.
