Thomas College

Karen enters her second season in the Lady Terrier backcourt, coming of a Freshman season which saw her earn the starting point guard position.  Karen will be counted on to establish tempo on both ends of the floor as Thomas looks to implement a full court style of basketball.  Although just a Sophomore, she comes in as one of the team's most experienced guards, and brings leadership to the young Terrier team.  Before arriving at Thomas, Karen was a 3 sport standout at Sanford High School where she excelled in soccer, basketball, and track.  During her Senior season she led Sanford to the Class A Western Maine Semifinals.  Karen is also a member of the women's soccer program at Thomas.

Coach's Comment: "I am very excited with the progress that Karen has made as a college point guard.  She is a student of the game, and has become a 2nd coach on the floor for us.  She has the ability to push the ball on offense and she is a integral part of our full court pressure defense as she can pressure the ball handler and is outstanding at anticipating passing lanes.  Karen is extremely unselfish and will give up her points to get the basketball where it needs to be for us to be successful.”

Karen is the daughter of Robert and Lucille Demers, and is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
