Chris Parsons returned to his alma mater, joining the Terriers coaching staff in 2011. In 2012, he became the first in Thomas history to win a conference championship as a player and coach at Thomas. Parsons has guided Thomas to six straight winning seasons, six consecutive NAC tournament appearances and five consecutive appearances in the NAC championship. Under Parsons the, Terriers won conference championships and advanced to the NCAA national tournament in 2012, 2013, 2015. The team received a top 25 national ranking in 2015. Parsons has coached 26 All-Conference players, 7 All-New England Region players, 2 All-East Region Academic players, 1 Academic All-American, 3 Conference Player of the Year recipients, 1 Defensive Player of the Year recipient and 2 Rookie of the Year recipients since 2011. In 2016, Parsons was voted North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year by his peers. Prior to Thomas, Parsons spent three seasons as the Head Coach at the University of Maine at Farmington, a season as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at the University of Maine and two seasons as an Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Bowdoin College. At Farmington, Parsons led the Beavers to two North Atlantic Conference semifinal appearances. While at Bowdoin, Parsons helped guide the Polar Bears to an overall record of 21-7-2 and an NSCAA top 20 national ranking in each year. Parsons also served as the Head Men's Soccer Coach at St. Joseph's College from 2003-04 where he led the Monks to the 2004 NCAA Division III Independent Northeast Regional Tournament. Parsons began his coaching career at NAIA Division II Notre Dame College (N.H.), posting a 48-11-1 mark from 1999-2001. The team won the Mayflower Conference Championship in 2000 and advanced to the Northeast Region Championship in 2000 and the Final Four in 2001. The team received NSCAA top 20 national rankings in 2000 and 2001. He was named the Mayflower Conference Coach of the Year in 2000. As a player, Parsons made two NJCAA National Final Four appearances with Ulster County Community College (N.Y.) before playing at Thomas College. Thomas won the Maine Athletic Conference title in 1995 and Parsons was a team captain and a two-time All-New England, All-State and All-Conference selection. Parsons received a bachelor of science in Sport Management from Thomas College and holds the United States Soccer Federation National 'B' license. Parsons resides in Farmington, Maine with his wife, Karin and children, Drew, Emma-Jane, and Owen. |
