Michael Akanji brings his experience of coaching at the DIII level and HS level to the Terriers Men’s Basketball program.
Mike was the Head Assistant Coach for the 2017-2018 Thomas men’s basketball team under Geoff Hensley, helping lead the Terriers to a 14-13 overall, 9-5 conference record and a trip to the NAC Conference Championship.
Akanji is also a Thomas alum and was a two year starter and captain during his four year career. Mike graduated with his bachelors in criminal justice in 2015 and then entered the Accelerated Program in which he earned his Master’s in Business Administration.
Coach Akanji was also apart of the Men's Basketball program from 2012-2016, serving as a captain in his junior and senior years. Along with other attributes, Akanji is a dedicated father to his son Elijah.
