Women's Soccer Dominates, Earns 8-0 Win Against VTSU Lyndon

Waterville, ME - Women's Soccer dominated for all 90 minutes against the Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets in a home matchup on Saturday, September 19th, 2026. The final score was 8-0 in favor of the Terriers as they outshot the Hornets 55-1.

How it Happened:
  • The Hornet defense held strong in the first 15 minutes, with the opposing goalkeeper making several saves to keep things tied at 0-0.
  • In the 19th minute Ava Lyndes scored a solo goal to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • Just two minutes later Yaribel Pena was able to score, doubling the Terrier lead.
  • Continued pressure saw the Terriers score again in the 29th minute, this time Briley Rutledge found Kelsie Lambert to make it 3-0.
  • In the final 16 minutes of the half the Terriers controlled possession, but the Hornet defense held strong, not allowing any more goals.
  • The Hornet goalkeeper came out in the second half and made several more saves (18 total in the game) to deny multiple opportunities.
  • In the 57th minute Riley Smith scored her first of the game thanks to an assist from Pena to make it 4-0.
  • From then on the floodgates opened, with Miah Ramos-Politron finding Pena to make it 5-0 just five minute later.
  • Eight minutes later Phoebe Padgett scored her first goal of the season to make it 6-0, followed by her second just 10 minutes later (assisted by Rachel Richardson).
  • Ally Southwick scored the game's final goal in the 80th minute, completing a dominant in-conference win.
