Women's Lacrosse Earns Thrilling 11-10 Win Over UMF Under Snowy Conditions

Waterville, ME - Thomas College Women's Lacrosse earned a thrilling 11-10 win against the University of Maine Farmington Beavers on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026. As the game went on the snowflakes began to get larger and larger, eventually creating a thin layer of snow that both teams delt with well. Terrier goaltender Amber Boardman was excellent all game, collecting a career high and season high 16 saves in the win.

How it Happened:
  • The Beavers opened up the game with a dominant stretch, scoring the games first two goals in the opening four minutes.
  • After a few saves from Terrier goaltender Boardman, the Beavers struck again with five minutes remaining in the first quarter to make it 0-3.
  • With less than two minutes left in the quarter Sadie Dorr scored a solo goal that gave the Terriers life headed into the second.
  • However, the Beavers would strike again just over a minute into the second quarter to make it 1-4.
  • A nice pass from Katarina Olvera three minutes later found the stick of Isabella Pelletier, who scored to cut the Beaver lead to two.
  • The Beavers would respond with two straight goals over the next two minutes to make it 2-6.
  • After the sixth goal from the Beavers the Terriers were able to flip the momentum, starting with a goal from Karissa Cotoia (assist from Olvera) to make it 3-6.
  • Boardman continued to shine in the closing minutes of the first half, making several point-blank saves.
  • In the final two minutes of the half Pelletier scored twice, thanks to assists from Olvera and Dorr to make it 5-6 at the break.
  • The Terriers started the third quarter much like how they ended the second, with Olvera scoring a solo goal to make it 6-6 halfway through the third.
  • Despite a Beaver goal soon after, Olvera found Dorr with 19 seconds left in the third quarter to tie things at 7-7.
  • With the snowflakes beginning to become heavy, the Terriers capitalized with goals from Cotoia (assist from Sophia Clayton) and Emily Gower (assisted by Cotoia) to give them a 9-7 lead.
  • Several green cards and a yellow card against the Terriers put the Beavers in a prime scoring position soon after, but Boardman and the Terrier defense held strong over the next few minutes.
  • After a short 2-0 run from the Beavers to tie things at nine a piece, a goal from Jorgie Arduini (assisted by Cotoia) gave the Terriers back the lead, 10-9.
  • With just under five minutes to play in the game the Beavers were able to equalize again, tying the game at 10-10 with snowy conditions continuing to make things difficult for both teams.
  • Three minutes later a fantastic long pass from goaltender Boardman found the stick of Dorr, who used her speed to get by several defenders, scoring a clutch goal to give the Terriers the 11-10 lead with 2:07 to play.
  • Smart possession play by the Terriers followed thanks to a key draw control win from Pelletier, and the Terriers walked away with a thrilling 11-10 win over the Beavers.
