Castleton, VT - Women's Lacrosse traveled to take on Vermont State University Castleton in a non-conference match-up on Sunday, April 12th, but ultimately fell to the Spartans by a final score of 1-16.

How it Happened:

• Castleton struck first midway through the 1st quarter, completing back-to-back goals to put the Terriers down two goals.
• The Terriers found a response just seconds later, with Maria Protheroe finding the back of the net to make it a 1-2 game.
• But three late strikes from the Spartans in the final minutes of the quarter sent the Terriers into the 2nd trailing 1-5.
• The Terriers looked to gain some momentum in the 2nd quarter with three shot attempts from Karissa Cotoia, Isabella Pelletier, and Gigi Bhagat, but would be unable to find the back of the net.
• Despite nine saves in the second quarter from Terriers goalkeeper Amber Boardman, the Spartans closed the period with five goals, sending the Terriers into halftime trailing 1–10.
• The Terriers continued to battle in the 2nd half, but strong defense from the Spartans ultimately kept them off the board for the remainder of the contest, handing the Terriers a 1-16 loss on the road.
