Softball's Offense Explodes for 30 Combined Runs in VTSU Lyndon Doubleheader

Lyndonville, VT - Softball concluded their trip to Vermont with two wins against VTSU Lyndon on Sunday, April 26th, 2026. The final scores were 15-0 and 15-2 in an offensive outburst from the team across the day.

How it Happened:

Game One: 15-0 Win (5 Innings)
  • The Terriers wasted no time getting on the board, exploding for six runs in the first inning.
  • Jennie Whitten sparked the offense with a 2-RBI single, scoring Maeve Hickok and Megan Oberholzer.
  • Thomas continued to capitalize on defensive miscues with Whitten crossing the plate to make it 3-0.
  • Abby Farone broke things open with a 3-RBI double, bringing home Carlie Jarvais, Morgan Duhaime, and Maddy Morris to give the Terriers an early 6–0 lead.
  • Thomas kept the pressure on in the second, as Maeve Hickok launched a two-run home run with Oberholzer crossing the plate as well to extend the advantage to 8–0.
  • The offense stayed relentless in the third inning, adding five more runs behind aggressive baserunning and timely hitting. Brooklyn Federico and Oberholzer each delivered RBI doubles, helping push the lead to 13–0.
  • In the fourth inning, Elisa Gonzalez capped off the scoring with a 2-RBI single, sealing the 15–0 run-rule victory.
  • Thomas combined explosive offense with opportunistic baserunning and took full advantage of Lyndon's defensive errors, controlling the game from start to finish.

Game Two - 15-2 Win (5 Innings)
  • The Terriers once again started strong, erupting for five runs in the first inning.
  • Mackenzie Toner opened the scoring with a two-RBI single, scoring Hickok and Federico.
  • Followed by Duhaime adding two more in Morris and Toner with a single to center.
  • Farone capped the inning with an RBI single, scoring Gonzalez to give Thomas an early 5–0 lead.
  • After Lyndon got one back in the second, Thomas continued to apply pressure.
  • In the fourth inning, Federico launched a solo home run to extend the lead.
  • Toner followed with another RBI single, scoring Hickok.
  • The Terriers broke the game wide open in the fifth inning, plating eight runs through a combination of timely hitting and aggressive baserunning.
  • Duhaime, Gonzalez, and Farone would come home as a result of aggressive baserunning.
  • Hickok delivered a two-RBI double, with Leah Knight and Federico scoring.
  • While Morris added a two-RBI single bringing home Hickok and Oberholzer, Thomas also capitalized on multiple defensive miscues to push the lead to 15–1.
  • Lyndon added a late run in the fifth, but the outcome was never in doubt as Thomas secured the 15–2 victory.
  • Thomas showcased relentless offense across both games of the doubleheader, combining for 30 runs and controlling play from start to finish.
