Baseball Narrowly Falls in Away Doubleheader Against Husson

Bangor, ME - Baseball fell in the opening two away games of the team's four game series against Husson University on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. The final scores were 9-11 in game one and 4-5 in game two.
 
How it Happened:

Game One: 9-11 Loss (9 Innings)
  • Husson came out swinging in the first inning, plating four runs on a mix of timely hitting and aggressive baserunning to take an early 4–0 lead.
  • Thomas responded in the third when DJ Cagnina drove in Adam Lafond on a fielder's choice.
  • The Terriers then exploded in the fourth inning, turning the game around with a five-run rally.
  • Hayden Dippner sparked the surge with a two-RBI single, scoring Patrick Temby, and Grady Hotham
  • This was followed by an RBI from Gus Hollen, scoring Lafond. 
  • A clutch two-run double from Cagnina scoring Hollen followed suit, and Dippner giving Thomas a 6–4 lead.
  • Husson answered right back, scoring in the fourth and sixth innings to tie the game before taking control in the seventh.
  • A combination of events helped Husson plate three runs and go up 9–6. They added insurance in the eighth on a two-run home run.
  • Thomas made things interesting in the ninth inning, showing resilience at the plate.
  • Cagnina delivered another RBI double scoring Hollen, cutting the Husson lead.
  • Gavin Clark drove in Cagnina on an error, and Jeremy Spencer added an RBI double scoring Ajay Rychcik to cut the deficit to 11–9.
  • However, the comeback ultimately fell short, making for a final score of 9-11.

Game Two: 4-5 Loss (7 Innings)
  • Husson struck first in the second inning with an RBI single to take a 1–0 lead.
  • The Terriers answered in the fourth when Ajay Rychcik launched a solo home run to right field, tying the game at 1–1.
  • Thomas took control in the sixth inning with a strong offensive push.
  • Cagnina delivered an RBI single scoring Dippner to give the Terriers a 2–1 lead.
  • Moments later, pressure on the base paths forced a Husson error that allowed Cagnina, and Rychcik to score, extending the lead to 4–1.
  • Husson responded quickly in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single to cut the deficit to 4–3.
  • In the seventh they completed the comeback, drawing a bases-loaded walk to tie the game before an RBI single gave them a 5–4 win in the bottom of the inning.
