Softball Comes up Short Against Strong Bowdoin College Squad

Brunswick, ME - Softball traveled to take on a strong Bowdoin College squad, falling 3-9 in game one and 3-13 in game two on Friday, March 27th, 2026. 

How it Happened:

Game One - 3-9 Loss
  • The Polar Bears opened up the scoring in the second inning with two runs from a triple and a sacrifice fly.
  • In the third inning the Polar Bears remained consistent, scoring two more runs to make it 0-4.
  • A single and another triple from the Polar Bears in the fourth inning made it 0-7, but the Terriers looked to battle back.
  • In the fifth inning a double to center field from Megan Oberholzer scored Bella Medeiros and Maddy Morris to make it 2-7.
  • Elisa Gonzalez followed up with a single to center, scoring Oberholzer, making it 3-7.
  • Despite the strong inning the Polar Bears tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning, making the final score 3-9.
Inside the Stats:

Game Two - 3-13 Loss
  • The first inning saw an explosion of runs from both teams, starting with the Terriers.
  • A double from Oberholzer scored Leah Knight, and Mackenzie Toner followed up with another double to make it 2-0.
  • Emily Rock hit a single to right that scored Toner, giving the Terriers a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.
  • The Polar Bears responded in a big way, scoring 11 runs in the bottom of the first.
  • After both teams settled in defensively the Polar Bears only went on to score two more runs in the remaining four innings, handing the Terriers a 3-13 loss.

What's Next:
  • Softball will look to bounce back when they travel to Standish, ME, to take on the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026. Start times are scheduled for 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
