How it Happened:
  • Hunter Simpson got the Terriers offense going in the opening minutes of the 1st quarter, finding the back of the net 39 seconds into the game to make it a 1-0 game.
  • The Huskies found a response midway through the 1st to knot the game up at 1-1.
  • However, the Terriers answered right back, scoring three consecutive goals in the following minutes thanks to Pike and Jack Morrill to give the Terriers a 4-1 advantage late in the 1st.
  • The Terriers looked to hold a three goal advantage heading into the final minutes of the 1st, but a late goal from USM made it a 4-2 game after 15 minutes of play.
  • Morrill and Owen Lyons continued to build momentum for the Terriers in the opening minutes of the 2nd, scoring back-to-back goals in less than a minute to extend the lead to four goals.
  • USM cut into it's deficit midway through the 2nd with a goal of their own, but a late strike from Pike to complete a hat-trick sent the Terriers into halftime up 7-3.
  • The Huskies looked to flip the momentum of the game early in the 3rd, scoring two quick unanswered goals to cut the Terriers lead to two.
  • Pike added his fourth goal of the game in the following minutes off a Simpson assist, but a quick answer from the Huskies made it a two goal game once again.
  • The Huskies found the back of the net once more in the 3rd, but strikes from O. Lyons and Wyatt Lyons (assisted by Vail) in the final minutes of the quarter extended the Terriers lead 3 goals heading into the 4th.
  • USM continued to battle for momentum early in the 4th, but four key saves from Mike Picard helped keep the Huskies off the board.
  • Despite the late comeback effort by the Huskies, two late goals from Simpson and O. Lyons (assisted by Simpson) ultimately put the game out of reach, giving the Terriers a 12-7 road win over USM.
  • Picard finished the contest with his fifth win of the season, while also adding 10 saves on 17 shots faced.
