Boston, MA - Softball traveled to take on the Simmons University Sharks in a doubleheader on Sunday, March 22nd, 2026. The final scores were 0-11 and 10-6. Weather conditions proved to be difficult, with heavy rain falling that eventually called for an early end to game two.
How it Happened:
Game One: 0-11 Loss (5 Innings)
- The Sharks got on the board in the first inning with a two-run home run to take an early 2-0 lead.
- Simmons added to their lead in the second inning, scoring five runs on a double, two RBI singles, and a three-run home run to make it 7-0.
- The Sharks continued to build in the third inning, putting up four more runs on a series of RBI singles to extend the lead to 11-0.
- Ultimately the Terriers were unable to get anything going, eventually falling 0-11 after five innings.
- Despite the loss the Terriers played cleanly in the field, not making any errors.

Game Two: 9-6 Win (6 Innings)
- The Terriers struck first in the opening inning, taking advantage of an error that allowed Mackenzie Toner and Maddy Morris to score, giving the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
- The Sharks answered in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single followed by a sacrifice fly to even the score at 2-2.
- The Terriers responded in a big way in the second inning, as Megan Oberholzer delivered a deep double to left center, bringing home Leah Knight, Carlie Jarvais, and Abby Farone, for three RBI, putting Thomas back in front, 5-2.
- Simmons added a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.
- Thomas broke the game open in the third inning with a five-run frame.
- Morris started the scoring with an RBI single, advancing runners and scoring Farone, followed by a sacrifice bunt from Knight that advanced the runners, bringing in Jarvais.
- Oberholzer stayed hot at the plate with an RBI triple scoring Morris, and Toner capped off the inning with an RBI single scoring Oberholzer to extend the lead to 9-3.
- The Sharks chipped away in the third with an RBI single to make it 9-4, and added two more runs in the sixth, capitalizing on a Thomas error and an RBI single to narrow the score to 9-6.
- With the rain continuing to come down the game was officially called after the sixth inning, giving the Terriers a 9-6 win.
