Waterville, ME — The Thomas College Women's Volleyball team battled throughout Tuesday evening's non-conference matchup but fell to Saint Joseph's College in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-20) inside Larry Mahaney Gymnasium. The Terriers were led by
Lindsay Pool and
Addison Lebel, who each recorded seven kills respectively, while first year setter
Mady Normand added six service aces in a strong all-around performance.
How It Happened:
- Thomas came out firing on cylinders, opening the match on a 4-0 run behind three service aces from Mady Normand and an early kill from Addison Lebel.
- Saint Joseph's responded with a rally of its own and used a late 5-0 run, highlighted by multiple kills from the Monk's, to take control of the opening set and earn a 25-19 victory.
- The Monks carried that momentum into the second set, jumping out to an early 9-2 advantage behind a balanced offensive attack.
- The Terriers answered with one of their best stretches of the night, using back-to-back service aces from Lindsay Pool, a Pool kill, and a kill from Natalie Roy to pull within 12-11.
- Thomas continued to battle throughout the second frame, staying within striking distance before Saint Joseph's closed out the set, 25-19, to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
- In the third set, Normand once again ignited the Terriers with consecutive service aces as Thomas grabbed an early 2-0 advantage.
- After trailing by as many as eight points, the Terriers mounted their strongest comeback of the evening. Kills from Addison Lebel, Lindsay Pool, and Jordan Child, along with two more service aces from Normand, helped Thomas tie the set at both 14-14 and 15-15.
- With the score even at 20-20, Saint Joseph's finished the match on a decisive 5-0 run to claim the third set, 25-20, and complete the three-set sweep.
