10/6/2026 1:50:00 PM

Thomas Esports started their NECC Fall '26-27 Season with a Valorant match. The Thomas Valorant team matched up against the University of Sherbrooke. Map one started on Abyss with the Terriers on the attacking side. Both teams took rounds early on, but heading late into the first half, Sherbrooke started to gain momentum and ended with 9 rounds to Thomas's 3. Early in the second half, Thomas started to find their feet, winning the first 4 defending rounds in a row. Both teams battled back and forth in a close map one, but in the end, the lead Sherbrooke generated in the first half was too much for Thomas to overcome. Sherbrooke took the first game of the match 13-9 over Thomas. Going into the second game on Sunset, Sherbrooke continued their momentum, not giving much room for Thomas to find anything. Sherbrooke dominated the second game, winning 13-4, and the series 2-0.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Crews was the second match of the week. The Terriers matched up against Waynesburg University. The first set was extremely close, with both teams battling hard and trading stocks back and forth. The match was back and forth, and both teams found themselves on their last player. Thomas had a slight edge going into the final game, and this narrow lead found itself pivotal in keeping momentum and morale high. Thomas took game 1 with 2 stocks remaining and looked to continue into game 2. Game 2 started with a strong resurgence from Waynesburg as they took an early 3-stock lead. However, the Terriers showed great resilience as they quickly took this lead back and some. Thomas found their stride and never looked back, closing game 2 with a 6-stock advantage and winning the series 2-0 over Waynesburg University.

Marvel Rivals started their season with a dominant 3-0 win over Pace University. The Terriers rolled out on a triple-support comp on Domination, ultimately suffocating Pace's 2-2-2 comp. With Thank's tank pool and fight calling setting the tempo, the Terriers easily took the first map 2-0 over Pace. Pace selected Central Park as the next map and banned out Adam, as he is a key hero in the triple-support comp with his resurrect ultimate ability, but the Terriers were able to save Mantis instead. With Hector moving to Mantis, the Terriers were able to play a triple-support comp again and continued their pressure and aggression from the first map, not letting their foot off the gas, capping the point with 3 minutes in the time bank. Pace could not find any answers on their attack and failed to cap the point, leading to a 2-0 series lead in favor of the Terriers. Pace chose Spider Islands for their next map and banned out Adam and Mantis this time, looking to weaken the Terriers' triple-support comp. Regardless, the Terriers, led by Thank, continued their relentless aggression and capped yet again with a big time bank of 2 minutes. Pace ultimately couldn't come up with any answers for the triple-support comp or Thank's tank pool, and the Terriers took home a 3-0 victory in their first game of the season.

Rocket League was up next with a matchup against Dalhousie University. The roster of Marcus Morton, Graeff Clark, and Fritz Betschman started the season off with a bang. The Terriers absolutely dominated the Tigers throughout the entire series. Thomas won games 1 and 2 by respective scores of 3-0 and 6-1. Graeff Clark found early offensive dominance, Fritz Betschman provided stalwart defensive efforts, and Marcus Morton acted as the glue, getting down in the trenches and covering all of the gaps across the pitch. Heading into game 3, the Tigers seemingly found something, as they scored early on through kickoff goals and a physical game plan. This lead was not enough, as Thomas battled back, outscoring Dalhousie 5-4. Game 4 was the same story, with Dalhousie finding the early lead but Thomas shutting it all down. The Terriers ended the series with a 2-1 win in game 4 and a series score of 4-0.

Overwatch Black and Red both started off their seasons in the win column, winning 3-1 and 3-2, respectively. Black continued their domination from last season, winning with relative ease against Champlain after waking up from a sloppy Domination map. Champlain was able to take an early lead over the Terriers on Samoa by taking advantage of the Terriers' sloppy play and poor communication. However, in the next three maps, the Terriers woke up, started calling dives, took control of the tempo of the fights, and put Champlain on the back foot for the rest of the series. Thomas ran the comp of Doomfist, Tracer, Cass/Shion, Kiri, and Ana/Cat, dependent on bans.

Overwatch Red made their team debut by pulling off an impressive reverse sweep against Sacred Heart University, winning 3-2. SHU took a commanding series lead over the Terriers, going up 2-0, and were set to win the series with ease. However, Thomas made some adjustments to their game plan and started punishing SHU's tanks' positioning, leading to the Terriers being able to take more map control and start dictating the tempo of the game. Thomas started chipping away at the score of the series and were able to tie the score 2-2, taking SHU to map 5 on Suravasa. It was a back-and-forth map, with each side taking points and again pushing the map score to 2-2, with the last point of the map deciding the series. In a nail-biter 99-99 percentage on the final point, the Terriers were able to close out the point from an impressive Sojourn ult from Samira and closed out the reverse sweep against SHU.
