Women’s Soccer Narrowly Defeated by Maine Maritime as Rock Hits Milestone

Waterville, ME – Women's Soccer was narrowly defeated by the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners during this year's Homecoming and Family Weekend on Saturday, September 27th, 2025. Emily Rock also made her 300th career save, an impressive milestone.
 
How it Happened:
  • The Mariners started off on the right foot, taking two shots that forced saves from Rock.
  • In the 21st minute a foul from the Mariners in the penalty box gave the Terriers a great opportunity to take a lead from the penalty spot.
  • Alexandra Wallingford stepped up and converted the penalty kick to give the Terriers an important 1-0 lead.
  • Just three minutes later the Terriers nearly scored from a cross, but a handball denied a potential 2-0 lead.
  • In the 26th minute the Mariners were awarded a penalty kick of their own, which they converted to tie things 1-1.
  • The Mariners continued to put pressure on the Terrier defense, but Rock held strong, making five saves over the next six minutes.
  • The Terriers had a few good looks to end the half, forcing the Mariner goalkeeper to make two saves.
  • Headed into the second half the Mariners continued to put on pressure, with a goal in the 51st minute giving them a 2-1 lead.
  • Ten minutes later Rock made her 300th career save, stopping yet another Mariner chance.
  • In the 66th minute the Terriers had another chance on goal, but a shot from Bailea Haines was saved by the Mariner goalkeeper.
  • Both teams nearly had a few more chances, but neither could capitalize, making the final score 1-2.

  • Women's Soccer will be back in action on Wednesday, October 1st, when they take on the Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks in their annual "Senior Day" matchup.
