Castine, ME – Women's Cross Country traveled to participate in the 2025 Mariner Invitational, hosted by Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday, September 24
th, 2025. The Terriers won 30-47 against Maine Maritime Academy, and 30-44 against the University of Maine Presque Isle.
How it Happened:
- The total 3K (3,000 meter) race was scored based upon team placement against the Mariners and Owls, with individual scores being given points.
- Lower points were given for higher individual finishes, and the team with the lowest point total in the results is the winner.
- Maria Protheroe placed first, winning by over a minute with an impressive time of 12:43.3 – giving the Terriers one point
- Kayla Hatt placed third with a time of 13:52.5, earning three points.
- Christina DeGiso placed sixth with a time of 15:35.3, bringing the Terrier point total to 10.
- Rebekah Ireland came in just after with a time of 15:58.7, earning seven points.
- Solana Coy placed in 13th, rounding out the day for the Terriers.
- Combined the Terriers earned 30 points, scoring better than the Mariner's 47 and the Owl's 44.

- Women's Cross Country will be back in action on Saturday, October 4th, when they travel to Husson University. Meet time is TBD.
