Baseball Concludes Regular Season with UMPI Sweep

Presque Isle, ME – Baseball traveled to play games five and six of a six game series against the University of Maine Presque Isle Owls on Sunday, May 4th, 2025. The final scores were 6-5 and 10-0.

How it Happened:
 
Game One: 6-5 Win
  • The Owls opened up game five well, scoring two runs in the first inning.
  • Aaron Young responded with a double that scored Samuel Keblinsky in the second inning, making it 1-2.
  • Two home runs coming from Cam Haynes and DJ Cagnina scored a combined three runs, giving the Terriers a 4-2 lead.
  • The Owls shot right back with a home run of their own in the bottom of the inning, making it 4-3.
  • Another home run from Jandre Rivera-Caraballo in the fourth inning, this time a solo shot, made things 5-3.
  • The next runs came in the seventh inning, when a ground out allowed Haynes to score, making it 6-4.
  • The Owls nearly came back after a home run and a single made things 6-5, but pitcher Justin Conn forced the Owls to hit into a double play, giving the Terriers the win.
 
Inside the Stats:  
Game Two: 10-0 Win
  • Game two was slow to start, with neither team finding a way to score in the first two innings.
  • In the third Tony Meza sent a single through the left side that scored Jason Bartlett to make it 1-0.
  • Haynes followed up with his second home run of the day, but this time made it a grand slam, scoring four runs to make it 5-0.
  • In the fourth inning Bartlett was able to score his second run of the game after a ground out, followed by a Haynes single that scored another run to make it 7-0.
  • An Owls error in the fifth inning allowed Young to score, making it 8-0.
  • To round out the scoring Morton sent a big double in to left field that scored Hayden Dippner and Bartlett to make it 10-0
  • Robert Hall earned his first collegiate victory on the mound, while Wyatt Thompson came in as relief. Both pitchers played well, striking out a combined 11 batters.

  • Baseball will be back in action to compete in the NAC Championship Tournament beginning on Thursday, May 8th, 2025. Location and times are to be determined.
