Baseball Sweeps Farmington in Home Opener

Waterville, ME – Baseball swept the University of Maine Farmington Beavers in a doubleheader in their 2025 home opener. The final scores were 4-0 and 7-3 on Monday, April 7th, 2025.
 
Game One:
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers looked primed to score in the bottom of the first inning after earning two hits, but the Beavers got out of the inning with three Terriers on base to keep things 0-0.
  • In the third inning the Terriers finally found the breakthrough, after Tony Meza hit a sacrifice fly that scored Hayden Dippner.
  • DJ Cagnina then hit a single to left field that scored Elijah Morton to make it 2-0.
  • Cam Haynes followed up with a big double to left field that scored Cagnina.
  • The Terriers would strike again in the fourth, after Meza drove home Patrick Temby to make it 4-0.
  • The next best opportunity for the Beavers to score was in the seventh inning, but they couldn't capitalize on a bases loaded situation.
  • Andrew Pruell played well from the pitcher's mound, pitching all seven innings and earned an important conference victory, 4-0.

How it Happened:
  • This time it was the Beavers who came out swinging, as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
  • The Terriers were able to respond almost immediately, thanks to some solid all-around play.
  • Meza was able to reach first on an error, which also scored Morton and Dippner to make it 2-3.
  • Cagnina followed up with a single up the middle to score Meza, tying things at 3-3.
  • The Terriers would strike again in the third inning, with singles from Haynes and Jandre Rivera-Caraballo making it 5-3.
  • In the next inning Keblinsky and Cagnina both drove home runs to make it 7-3.
  • Neither team found a way to score in the remaining three innings, and the Terriers walked away with another important conference victory.
