Baseball Earns Third Win Against Husson on Senior Day

Waterville, ME – Baseball earned their third win of the season against the Husson University Eagles on the team's annual Senior Day. The final scores of the doubleheader were 8-4, and 8-22. In between game one and game two, the Terriers honored 13 seniors. Sam Letarte, Jack Dwyer, Andrew Pruell, Jarrad Willette, Nick Barber, Tony Meza, Elijah Morton, Jason Bartlett, Samuel Keblinsky, Garrison Paillet, Matt Seymour, Wyatt Thompson, and Cam Haynes.

 
How it Happened:
 
Game One: 8-4 Win
  • The Eagles started off game one well, scoring in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
  • In the third inning the Eagles struck again, this time expanding their lead to 3-0.
  • Despite the Eagles leading, the Terriers had a great bottom of the inning.
  •  Tony Meza sent a single to center field that scored Hayden Dippner and Matt Seymour to make it 2-0.
  • DJ Cagnina followed up with a three-run home run to make it 6-3.
  • Neither team was able to score until the fifth inning, when Cam Haynes hit a home run to make it 6-3.
  • A single from the Eagles in the sixth inning scored a run, making it 6-4 headed into the final two innings.
  • In the bottom of the sixth Meza scored two more runs from a home run, making it 8-4.
  • Andrew Pruell once again closed out the game for the Terriers, making quick work of the Eagles to secure an 8-4 win, their third straight against Husson.
 
Inside the Stats:  
Game Two: 8-22 Loss
  • It was the Eagles who opened up the scoring yet again, with a double leading to two scored runs in the second inning.
  • The Terriers responded in the bottom of the second, with Matt Seymour scoring from a passed ball to make it 1-2.
  • Dippner followed up with a sacrifice fly that scored Jason Bartlett to make it 2-2.
  • The Eagles' offense exploded in the third and fourth innings, scoring a combined 17 runs to take a 2-19 lead.
  • The Eagles added three more runs in the following innings, but the Terriers still had some sparks left in them.
  • Aaron Young and Ben Seguin both hit home runs on back-to-back at bats, making it 5-22.
  • Denzel Martinez and Gavin Clark both hit doubles to score a combined three runs in the remaining innings, making the final score 8-22.

What's Next:
  • Baseball will be back in action on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, when they travel to take on the Colby College Mules in the Elm City Classic. First pitch is set for 4:30 PM.
